What is Recto?
Recto is a PDF output engine for iPhone — the tool you reach for when a document has to meet a specification rather than merely be viewed. A target file size. A page layout. An ID card at its real physical dimensions.
Everything happens on the device. There is no server, there are no accounts, and nothing you open is ever uploaded.
Features
- Compress to a target size — Pick a size for email, for the web, or type your own, and Recto works toward it and reports what it actually achieved
- Text survives — Pages carrying text or vector art are copied byte-for-byte instead of being flattened into pictures, so text stays selectable
- Photos to PDF — Controlled page size, margins, and fit, with camera orientation honoured and any page rotatable
- ID card at true size — Front and back on one A4 page at 85.6 × 54 mm, so a printout measures correctly
- Organize pages — Merge, extract, reorder by dragging, rotate, delete; page moves are lossless
- Scan a page — Edge detection and perspective correction, straight into a document
- No watermarks, no task limits — On anything, ever
Privacy
Recto contains no analytics SDK, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. Your documents never leave your device — the only thing the app ever sends is three small developer notifications (a first launch, the Pro screen opening, a completed purchase), described in full in the privacy policy, and they carry no document data. Your documents stay in the app’s protected container on your device until you decide where they go.
