Privacy Policy

Blink Tracker (“the App”) is developed by Octo8 (“we”, “us”, or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information.

The Short Version

Blink Tracker does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Everything happens on your device. There is nothing else to say, but we will say it anyway for completeness.

1. Information We Collect

None. Blink Tracker does not collect any personal information, usage data, analytics, or telemetry of any kind.

2. Camera Usage

Blink Tracker requires access to your Mac’s camera to detect blinks. Camera data is:

  • Processed entirely on your device using Apple’s Vision framework (VNDetectFaceLandmarksRequest)
  • Analyzed frame by frame in real time to compute Eye Aspect Ratio (EAR) values
  • Immediately discarded after processing — no video frames are stored, cached, or recorded
  • Never transmitted to any server, cloud service, or third party

The macOS camera indicator (green dot) is visible whenever the camera is active, providing system-level transparency.

Blink counts, blink rates, and session duration are computed in real time and held only in volatile memory (RAM). These statistics:

  • Are not written to disk
  • Are not persisted between sessions
  • Are not backed up to iCloud or any other service
  • Are lost when the app is quit or the session is reset

4. Notifications

Blink Tracker uses macOS User Notifications to send blink reminders. Notification content (e.g., “You haven’t blinked in 20 seconds”) is generated locally on your device and is not transmitted anywhere.

5. Network Activity

Blink Tracker makes zero network calls. The App does not:

  • Connect to any server or API
  • Send or receive any data over the internet
  • Include any networking code, libraries, or SDKs
  • Contain any analytics, crash reporting, or telemetry frameworks

6. Third-Party Services

Blink Tracker does not integrate any third-party SDKs, frameworks, libraries, or services. The App is built entirely with Apple’s native frameworks:

  • AVFoundation (camera access)
  • Vision (face landmark detection)
  • UserNotifications (local notifications)
  • MetricKit (Apple’s aggregated diagnostic framework, debug builds only)

7. Data Sharing

We do not share any data with any third party because we do not collect any data to share.

8. Children’s Privacy

Blink Tracker does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

9. Data Retention

There is no data to retain. No information is stored on disk, in the cloud, or anywhere else.

10. Your Rights

Since we collect no data, there is no personal data to access, correct, delete, or export. If you have questions about your privacy, contact us at the email below.

11. Changes to This Policy

If we update this Privacy Policy, we will post the revised version at this URL with an updated “Last Updated” date. Since the App makes no network calls, we cannot notify you of changes in-app.
