What is Duet?
An iPhone app for two people. You draw a note and it appears on your partner’s home-screen widget, where it stays until the next one. Underneath sit shared lists, reminders, plans, trips, rituals and one-tap nudges — the logistics half of a relationship, in a place that belongs to just the two of you.
How do we pair?
One of you creates an invite code in the app and shares it however you like — message, link or QR. The other taps I have a code, enters it, and you’re paired. A couple is exactly two people; there are no groups.
Do I need an account?
Yes — pairing needs one so your notes can reach the other phone, and so your history survives a new device. Sign in with Apple is supported.
How does the widget work?
Add the Duet widget to your home screen. The latest note your partner sent is rendered there and stays until a new one replaces it. There’s also an interactive shared-list widget you can tick items off from without opening the app.
Can I edit or unsend a note?
No, and that’s deliberate. A note is a little artifact rather than a message — once it’s sent it can be viewed, reacted to or deleted, but not edited. If you want to say something else, draw another one.
What's free, and what's Premium?
Sending and receiving notes is never paywalled, and neither is seeing anything your partner shared. Free includes unlimited notes, your 20 most recent on the fridge door, 2 shared lists and 3 rituals. Premium lifts those limits and adds trips, the full note archive, premium pens and palettes, custom nudges, and approximate location sharing.
How much does Premium cost?
$4.99/month, $29.99/year with a 3-day free trial, or $59.99 once for lifetime. Those are US prices — the App Store shows yours. Crucially, one subscription covers both partners: whichever of you buys it, you both get it, because the entitlement belongs to the couple rather than to a person.
How do I cancel?
iPhone Settings → your Apple ID name → Subscriptions → Duet → Cancel. Cancel during the free trial and you won’t be charged. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Is my location tracked?
No. Nothing is shared unless you tap Share, Duet only asks for “While Using the App” permission, and it never reads your location in the background. What gets shared is rounded to roughly a one-kilometre area on your device before it leaves your phone, and only your most recent share exists — no history is kept, so there is no trail for your partner or for us to look at.
What happens if we unpair?
Everything the two of you shared is removed from both devices, and the couple’s data enters a 30-day grace period before it is permanently deleted from the server. Both of you keep your own account and can pair again — with each other or with someone else.
Which devices are supported?
iPhone running iOS 17.0 or later. Duet is iPhone-only by design, and is available in English and Turkish.
