Privacy Policy

Vertex Health (“the App”), developed by Octo8 (“we”, “us”, “our”), is designed with your privacy as a core principle. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our iOS application.

The Short Version

We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal or health data to our servers. All health data stays on your device.

1. Data Collection

Vertex Health does not collect any personal data. We do not operate servers that receive data from the app. There are no accounts to create, no registration required, and no personal information gathered at any point.

2. HealthKit Data

Vertex Health integrates with Apple HealthKit to read the following types of health data:

Step count, walking + running distance, flights climbed
Active and resting energy burned (calories)
Heart rate, resting heart rate, heart rate variability
Sleep analysis and duration
Exercise minutes and stand hours
Blood oxygen saturation and respiratory rate
Walking asymmetry, walking steadiness, headphone audio levels

We access HealthKit data in read-only mode. We never write to or modify your health records. All HealthKit data is processed locally on your device and is never transmitted to any external server.

In compliance with Apple’s HealthKit guidelines, health data is never used for advertising or shared with third parties.

3. CloudKit

Premium subscribers may opt into CloudKit sync, which uses Apple’s iCloud infrastructure to sync app preferences and configurations only (such as widget layouts, notification settings, and streak data) across the user’s Apple devices.

CloudKit sync does not include any health data. Health data always remains within HealthKit on each individual device. CloudKit data is protected by Apple’s end-to-end encryption.

4. Third-Party Services

Vertex Health does not integrate any third-party analytics, crash reporting, or tracking services. We do not use:

Google Analytics or Firebase
Facebook SDK or any social media SDKs
Advertising frameworks or ad networks
Any third-party crash reporting tools

5. Advertising

Vertex Health does not contain any advertising. We do not participate in advertising networks and do not display ads of any kind within the application.

6. Data Storage

All app data is stored locally on your device using SwiftData. This includes your preferences, Health Score history, streak data, and cached health metric summaries. This data is protected by your device’s passcode and encryption.

7. Data Deletion

Since all data is stored locally, deleting the Vertex Health app from your device will permanently remove all associated data. If you use CloudKit sync, deleting the app will also trigger removal of your synced preferences from iCloud.

You can revoke Vertex Health’s access to HealthKit at any time by navigating to Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Vertex Health.

8. Children’s Privacy

Vertex Health is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
