Privacy Policy
How Yedi handles your data. Your entries, notes, locations and photos are never sent to us or to any third party; RevenueCat receives only purchase validation data and a few anonymous, coarse details for comparing the introduction screens.
Last updated · October 2026Yedi is an iOS app made by Octo8. This policy explains how the app works with your personal data. The short version: the app does not send your entries, notes, locations or photos to us or to any third party. Data goes to RevenueCat, our purchase provider, for only two purposes, under an anonymous identifier that is not linked to your identity: validating Yedi Plus purchases (see §4) and a few coarse details for comparing two versions of the introduction screens (see §5). The app contains no separate analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs.
1. What data is processed?
The app stores the following only on your device, for as long as you keep it:
- The feeling(s) you select
- The date and time of each entry
- Optionally, a location (coordinates and a place name)
- Optionally, the note you write
- Optionally, a photo you attach to an entry (Yedi Plus)
2. Location
If “Add location automatically” is on and you have granted permission, the app takes a single location fix only while the app is in use when you create an entry, and uses Apple’s MapKit service to turn it into a readable place name. That request goes to Apple and is subject to Apple’s privacy policy. Location is never tracked in the background. You can revoke the permission in iOS Settings at any time and delete the place from any entry individually.
3. iCloud sync
If you turn on iCloud sync in Yedi Plus, your entries (and photos, if any) are stored in the private iCloud database tied to your Apple Account and synced only between your own devices. Octo8 cannot access this data; Apple’s iCloud privacy terms apply. Sync is off by default; when you turn it off, entries stay on your device and the iCloud copy is governed by Apple’s rules.
4. Purchases
Yedi Plus purchases are made through Apple’s App Store. To validate purchase status and unlock Plus features we use RevenueCat, Inc. Data sent to RevenueCat: the App Store receipt/transaction information, product identifier, purchase date, country/currency, app version and device platform, together with an anonymous app user identifier that is not linked to your identity. Your name, email, entries or location are never sent. This data is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking. RevenueCat’s privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy
5. Comparing the introduction screens
We compare two versions of the app’s introduction (first-launch) screens. On a new install you may be shown one of these versions at random. For this, only the following is sent to RevenueCat, tied to the anonymous user identifier described in §4:
- Which introduction version you saw (A or B) and whether you finished it
- What you chose on the Yedi Plus offer within it (trial, purchase or skip)
- Whether the app is a test build or the App Store build
- Whether notifications are allowed and which reminder type you chose
- How many entries you added and on how many separate days you opened the app in your first 7 days — only as coarse ranges (e.g. “0”, “1”, “2-4”, “5+”)
The content of your entries, the feelings and words you choose, your notes, entry times, locations and photos are never sent. This information is used only to learn which introduction is more helpful; it is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking. People who started using the app before this comparison are not included.
6. Photos
A photo you attach to an entry is stored in the app’s own container on your device as a downscaled copy; the original in your Photos library is untouched. If iCloud sync is on, this copy is synced to your private iCloud database too. The photo picker needs no library permission; only the photo you choose is handed to the app.
7. Your data and export
Export is always free: JSON/CSV/PDF report and, if you choose, a ZIP archive including your photos.
8. Deleting your data
Settings › Data › “Delete all entries” permanently removes everything. Deleting the app also removes all data from your device. Since we hold no copy of your entries, there is nothing to request deletion of from us.
9. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Changes
If we update this policy, we will publish the new version on this page and change the date above.
