Frequently asked questions

What is Yedi?

A private feelings journal for iPhone. You pick a word for what you feel from a 130-word wheel — adapted from the Feelings Wheel (Roberts) that counselors use — add where and why, and it’s saved on your phone. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Why words instead of emoji faces?

Naming a feeling precisely is the whole point. “Angry” becomes “let down”, “distant” or “resentful”; “sad” becomes “lonely”, “guilty” or “vulnerable”. The app never tells you what to do with a feeling — it only helps you name it.

Can I log more than one feeling at once?

Yes — mixed feelings are normal. Add up to three feelings to a single entry with Add a feeling on the entry form. Each one counts in your summaries.

Do I need an account?

No. There is nothing to sign into, and your entries are never uploaded to us. If you buy Yedi Plus and turn on iCloud sync, entries sync through the private iCloud database tied to your Apple Account — still not to us; Octo8 cannot read it.

Is my location tracked?

No. If you allow it, the app takes a single fix while you’re logging, to fill in a place name — never in the background, and you can remove the place from any entry or turn the feature off entirely.

Can I get my data out?

Always, and always free. Settings › Data exports everything as JSON (restorable), CSV, or a PDF report you could share with someone you trust — and, if your entries have photos, a ZIP archive that includes them. Restore from your own backup any time.

What happens if I delete the app?

All data on the device is deleted with it, and we hold no copy. If you had iCloud sync on, the copy in your own private iCloud database is governed by Apple’s rules — Octo8 still cannot read it. Export a backup first if you want to keep your journal.

Does Yedi give advice or scores?

No, deliberately. Yedi shows counts only — how often, at what time of day, with which tags. It is a notebook, not a therapist, and it never comments on what you write.

How do reminders work?

Choose a fixed time every day, or random moments within hours you pick — or none at all. Reminders are gentle and never time-sensitive.

What is Yedi Plus, and what stays free?

Plus adds four things: iCloud sync, the PDF Notebook (a month or a season as a printable book), a photo per entry, and themes with alternate app icons. Everything else is free and stays free — the 130-word wheel, mixed feelings, all the look-backs, Explore, reminders, widgets, Face ID lock and export. There is no cap on entries or reminders, and there never will be.

How much does Yedi Plus cost?

$11.99 a year with a 3-day free trial, or $29.99 once for lifetime. Those are US prices; the App Store shows yours. The yearly plan renews through Apple unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.

How do I cancel, and what happens when Plus ends?

iPhone Settings → your Apple ID name → Subscriptions → Yedi → Cancel. Cancel during the free trial and you won’t be charged. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. When Plus ends nothing is taken away from you: your entries, your photos and every export stay accessible — only the Plus features switch off.

Does buying Plus change what you know about me?

Only that a purchase happened. Purchases are validated through Apple and RevenueCat with an anonymous app user ID — no name, no email, no entries, no location, and never used for advertising or cross-app tracking. The privacy policy spells out exactly what is sent.

Which devices and languages are supported?

iPhone with iOS 26 or later. Yedi is available in 11 languages including English and Turkish.
