Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 August 2026 · Amplia — an Octo8 app · Android
Amplia is a volume booster and audio enhancer for Android. This policy explains, in plain terms, what the app does with your information. It is short because the app does very little with it.
Who we are
Amplia is developed by Octo8. Contact: [email protected]
The short version
Amplia has no accounts, no login, no advertising, and no analytics. Your settings, presets, profiles and listening-exposure history stay on your phone. The only information that ever leaves your device is the receipt for a subscription purchase, and only if you subscribe.
What stays on your device
The following never leaves your phone. It is stored in the app's private storage and is deleted when you uninstall the app:
- Your boost level, equalizer settings and enhancement toggles
- Presets and per-output profiles you create
- Your safe listening ceiling and your hearing-exposure history
- Your language choice and onboarding state
- Audio files you play in the built-in player. Amplia reads them to play them. It does not upload them, scan them, or record anything about what you listen to.
What leaves your device, and only then
If — and only if — you open the subscription screen, Amplia connects to RevenueCat, Inc., the service that verifies purchases for us. From that moment RevenueCat receives:
- An anonymous identifier it generates for your installation. We do not give it your name, your email, or any account of ours, because we do not have one.
- Your purchase and subscription status: which plan you bought, when, whether it renewed, was cancelled or was refunded.
- Basic technical information that comes with any internet request: your device model, your Android version, and your IP address.
We use this for one purpose only: to know whether you should have Pro features, on this device and on any other device where you use the same store account. It is not used for advertising, it is not sold, and it is not combined with anything else.
Payment itself is handled by Google Play. Your card details are never seen by Amplia or by RevenueCat.
RevenueCat's own privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy
If you never open the subscription screen, Amplia never contacts RevenueCat at all, and nothing about you exists on any server.
What we do not do
- No advertising, and no advertising identifier is read.
- No analytics or usage tracking of any kind.
- No crash-reporting SDK. Google Play may show us anonymous crash reports from users who opted in to share them with Google; that is Google's system, not ours.
- No microphone access. Amplia shows an estimated listening level rather than a measured one precisely so that it never has to ask for a microphone permission.
- No cloud backup. Android's automatic backup is switched off for this app, so your settings are not copied to Google Drive. On Android 12 and newer, a direct phone-to-phone transfer when you change devices is allowed, because that data never leaves your hands.
Permissions and why
- Modify audio settings — to apply the boost and equalizer. This is the app.
- Foreground service (media playback) — to keep the boost running while you listen in another app.
- Notifications — for the boost notification you can control the app from, and for one reminder before a free trial charges you.
- Read audio files — only for the built-in player, and only the files you choose to play.
- Internet — used by the subscription check described above. It comes from the RevenueCat component; nothing else in Amplia makes a network request.
Children
Amplia is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13.
Your choices and your data
- Uninstalling the app removes everything stored on your device.
- You can ask us to delete the purchase record associated with your installation by writing to [email protected]. We will forward the request to RevenueCat and confirm when it is done. Note that deleting it also removes the record that you are a subscriber, so your Pro access on that installation ends.
- Google Play keeps its own record of your purchases, which we cannot delete. See Google's privacy policy for that.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the change is described in the app's release notes. We will not start collecting something new without saying so here first.
