Recto
Terms of Use
Effective 17 August 2026 · Last updated 17 August 2026
1. This agreement
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Octo8 (“we”, “us”, “our”), covering your use of the Recto application and its extensions (“the app”). By downloading or using the app you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
This agreement is between you and us only, and not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its contents, and has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services for it.
2. Licence
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on any Apple-branded product that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, except that the app may be accessed by other accounts associated with you via Family Sharing or volume purchasing. This licence does not transfer ownership; we retain all rights these Terms do not expressly grant you.
3. What you may not do
You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app except to the extent applicable law expressly permits despite this restriction; rent, lease, lend, sell, sublicense, or redistribute it; remove or obscure any proprietary notice; use it to infringe anyone's rights or break the law; or circumvent the technical measures that gate paid features.
4. Your documents remain yours
You keep every right you have in the documents, photos, and other content you process with the app. We claim no ownership, no licence, and no interest in it. We do not receive your content at all — the app processes it on your device. Because of this we cannot recover your files if you lose them, and we cannot access them on your behalf. You are responsible for having the right to process the content you put through the app, including under data protection law if it contains other people's personal data.
5. Purchases
The app's core functions are free to use, without watermarks on your output and without limits on how many documents you may process. If advanced features are offered as a paid upgrade, they are sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Prices are shown in the app before you buy and charged to your Apple Account on confirmation. Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and are managed or cancelled through iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions, not through us. Refunds are handled by Apple under the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions at reportaproblem.apple.com. Nothing here limits any statutory right of withdrawal or cancellation you have as a consumer.
6. Availability and support
The app requires iOS 26 or later. We may add, change, or remove features, and may stop publishing the app; we will not deliberately disable functionality you have already paid for on a device where it is already installed. Support is provided by us by email at [email protected]. As stated above, Apple has no obligation to furnish maintenance or support for the app.
7. Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
In the event of any failure of the app to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for the app to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the app.
As between us and Apple, any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses attributable to any failure to conform to any warranty are our sole responsibility. If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights these Terms cannot exclude or limit.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, or data. Because the app processes your documents on your device and we hold no copy of them, you are responsible for keeping backups of anything you cannot afford to lose. Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months preceding the claim. Nothing excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the app or your possession and use of it.
9. Claims about the app
We, and not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app or your possession or use of it, including product liability claims, any claim that the app fails to conform to an applicable legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation.
In the event of any third-party claim that the app or your possession and use of it infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, we, and not Apple, will be solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement, and discharge of that claim.
10. Legal compliance
You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
11. Third-party terms
You must comply with any applicable third-party terms of agreement when using the app — for example, your wireless data service agreement.
12. Apple as third-party beneficiary
You acknowledge and agree that Apple, and Apple's subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and that upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
13. Termination
These Terms apply until terminated. They end automatically if you stop using the app and delete it. We may terminate your licence if you materially breach them. Sections 4, 7, 8, 9, 12, and 14 survive termination.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence, or of the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
15. Changes and contact
We may update these Terms; the date at the top shows when they last changed, and material changes are noted in the App Store release notes. Questions go to [email protected].
